Enthusiasm glowing in the face, enjoyment pouring from the eyes…
Enthusiasm glowing in the face,
enjoyment pouring from the eyes,
everyday, commonplace sights
simply marvellous delights
for him to examine and explore.
Too soon, too soon
the adult forgets
the freshness and pleasure
lighting childhood days,
allowing the eyes to grow dull
with the apathy and flatness
that cloud so much of our lives.
Yet the pure, untarnished delight
of younger years
is only a decision away,
so let’s decide
to banish the drabness
that suffocates our hearts
and allow the bright colours
we’ve let grow pale and dim
stream forth once more
into each moment of living,
filling it with unsullied ecstasy
and spirited passion!
